Last year Artist Karen du Toit was commissioned to create seven stunning sculptures of Swellendam Iconic females. These beautiful pieces of work were sold at auction at a glamorous evening of food and wine - Carl from Olivedale wines fell in love with one, bid for her, and has created and labelled a wine in her honour. Lang Elsie wine is almost ready to be released!

So now it is the turn of the men.
Edmund H Burrows, Daniël de Bruyn, Birria, Governor Hendrik Swellengrebel, Joseph Barry, Kaptein Benjamin Moodie and Adolf Treu

Swellengram will feature each of these men over the next few weeks, before the historic ICON EVENING takes place. All the money raised at the event will help pay for essential repairs to the roofs at the Drostdy Museum. The Museum has to be one of Swellendam's greatest treasures and it needs the help of the community to save it.

The Drostdy Museum Friends work tirelessly to create awareness and raise funds for this iconic building - here are some of the events they have planned:

FRESH FACES AT THE MUSEUM The Drostdy Museum welcomed three new EPWP staff members on the 1st of July 2022. We are very excited about the new team members and hope that they will build a good and fruitful experience during their time at the Museum.

|
|
From left to right are Lucian Moos, Winston Benn and Moesha Mtila. The two ladies are joining the Museum’s collection management team and are part of the Audit and Digitization Project, a challenging ‘behind the scene’ job. Winston is a new guide and are we confident he will excel in that position. The Drostdy has had a few success stories from where our EPWP’s have secured permanent posts at other companies and are we proud of these youngsters who moved on to better career positions. Let’s hope the Museum can continue contributing to the community in this way.
