Swellengram is featuring each of the 7 Swellendan male icons efore the historic ICON EVENING takes place. All the money raised at the event will help pay for essential repairs to the roofs at the Drostdy Museum. The Museum has to be one of Swellendam's greatest treasures and it needs the help of the community to save it.

Hendrik Swellengrebel 1700 – 1760) was the first and only Dutch East India Company governor of the Dutch Cape Colony who was born in the Cape Swellengrebel was governor from 14 April 1739 to 27 February 1751. In his time, new districts were added to the colony. Swellendam is named after him and his wife Helena Wilhelmina ten Damme.
