Classics to Cabaret- It's going to be a party!
TEATRO SWELLENDAM presents: Classics to Cabaret / Classics to Cabaret
With Niël Rademan (baritone), Elna van der Merwe (piano) and Petrus de Beer (violin)
Date: 15 June 2022 / 18:30
Reservations: 063 114 7303
Rademan is known for adding a variety of genres and languages into one program and tying it together into a magical whole. He sings, Brel, Piaf, Aznavour, highlights from Musicals and even maybe a famous aria or two.
This formidable trio performs a multitude of genres. Elna van der Merwe is regarded as one of South Africa's best accompanists. She performs with many international instrumentalists; strings, wind instruments, but the voice remains her favorite. Petrus de Beer is a violinist, viola and record jockey who completed his MMus in Scotland at the Royal Scottish Academy for Music and Drama. He performs all over the country, is a member of the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra and teaches a multitude of young violinists.
For the baritone, Niël Rademan, it is an honor and inspiration to perform with musicians such as Elna and Petrus.
"Classical to Cabaret" consists of well-known virtuoso melodies for violin, piano and also songs from the Opera and Music Treasure.

Another Swellendam landmark gone
Our last hotel has bitten the dust. The duel about what worked before & what is needed now has been fought. Commercialism needs victory over what is no longer in demand. I will not bore you with the history or people behind the Swellengrebel (initially The Commercial Hotel)(sic), but it played its part in our dorp's history. I salute (the late) Fernando & Maria Jorge, with their Portuguese hospitality, for many years of excellent service to our town & wish the new Mall great success. Willemina (Swellendammer since 1982)
