The Swellendam Bewarea Conservancy (SBC) is dedicated to preserving Swellendam’s rich ecology for future generations. From lush river corridors to diverse wildlife, we are tackling key environmental challenges but need your support. The SBC is a registered Cape Nature Conservancy and a Public Benefit Organization (PBO) [PBO number: 930077628]. • Educational Outreach: We are seeking the necessary financial support for this vital project. One of our key objectives is to enhance Environmental Education and Awareness.
• River Management Projects: We are committed to ensuring healthy ecosystems along the Keurboom and Klip Rivers. To achieve this, we need the support of all riparian owners along these rivers. Join us as a member and volunteer your time and expertise to help make this project a success.
• Alien Vegetation Management: With increased funding, we can assist current hacking groups in the crucial task of eliminating invasive species. This will support the restoration of natural habitats sustainably.
• Baboon Management Programme: A community-driven project facilitated by the SBC aims to tackle human-wildlife conflicts through collaboration. Success depends on residents in the affected areas becoming members and contributing donations. Phase 1 will run from December 16, 2024, to January 31, 2025. The project’s long-term success relies on data collected and support from residents in the Berg, Qualberg, and Liechtenstein street areas. • The Owl Box Project: Promoting biodiversity with safe nesting spaces for owls. We call on the community to assist us with this project with the following: Sponsor an Owl box: R400.
