Pilot Course: Week 1 March 18/19/20
The course will be an introduction to nature and participants will learn more about the forms of life around us, how everything fits together in the circle of life. We will first look at Classification and Taxonomy to ease into our modules which will include knowledge of Birds, Mammals & Flora.This course will be for participants who love and are passionate about nature conservation and the outdoors, especially those who would like to know and learn more about other forms of life around them in a fun way and who love the natural environment. Upon finishing the course participants will be able to name, be familiar with and aware of other forms of life around them and be able to be ethical when enjoying nature. A medium fitness level is required as there will be some walking, and participants should be over 18 years old. The course will include field trips and interaction with nature.
BE PREPARED! Hat, wellingtons, raincoat, binoculars, camera,water bottle and any field guide books
Jonathan Booysen is a long term resident of Swellendam. He is a passionate qualified CATHSETTA and DEAT registered Tourist Guide who loves nature and the outdoors. He believes that there should be a state of harmony between man and land. He loves to share his vast knowledge and passion, not only of larger animals but also of small creatures and plants.
COURSE TIMES: The course will start promptly at 14h00, and the first workshop/module will end at 17h00. There will be a break with coffee provided.
Each day, participants should gather at the designated venue at 8h30 for coffee. Courses start promptly at 09h00. Please bring your own lunch.
The courses will end at 17h00 each day except the last, when they end at 12.30.
Participants are requested to complete and submit a Course Evaluation Questionnaire at the completion of the course.
