JULY 1st – Live Music with Brian Slender

‘Under the Oaks Village Market’ is a small country craft and food market, tucked away behind Grace & Merci, in a beautiful setting under majestic oak trees.  These trees provide shade in the summer, glorious colours in the autumn, and are home to a multitude of chameleons.

It has a tremendous local following – the townspeople come every week to connect, communicate and cavort, and enjoy the wonderful locally produced food and beverages: fresh breads, pastries, cakes, charcuterie, cheeses, jams, curries,  coffee.

Browsing the stalls is such a pleasure – art, and crafts including hand made jewellery, pottery,  hand crafted wooden pieces, books, toys, locally designed and sewn clothes, plants, herbs, soaps and beauty products – everything you could ask for from a market which gives local arts and craftspeople a space to share their talents.

To add to the ambience,  there is live music on the riverbank – from well know artistes to aspiring local talent.  Frequently, fuelled by the stunning local craft beer and wines, joyous and spontaneous dancing breaks out.

Dogs on leads are made welcome – and they seem to have their very own social circle and look forward to meeting up with each other every week..

There is an area for children to play safely, with jumping castle, sandpit, fuffie slide, swings; sometimes there is face painting, and annually there is an Easter Egg Hunt, a Mad Hatters Tea Party, a Spring Hat competition and for the adults a very special event:  Art in the Secret Garden.
