Short Summary: 

The main task of this position is to ensure that all manufacturing processes are continuously operating within the design parameters and to initiate the improvement of plant installations and process efficiencies.  This position is responsible for the continuous evaluation of processing parameters of production plant and machinery and the quality of products produced against set benchmarks.

Responsibilities:

  • Process improvement and optimization
  • Ensure that production and manufacturing processes are operated according to design parameters
  • Ensure products produced meet the quality specifications
  • Root cause analysis and problem solving
  • Plant pre-start checks, fault finding and trouble shooting
  • Approve in-process production by confirming required specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating the required adjustments to the production supervisor
  • Maintain all documentation for the purpose of auditing
  • Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and calling for repairs
  • Set up and manage quality control systems
  • Working closely with the engineering team in scoping of new installations/upgrade projects and commissioning of these installations

Key Competencies:

Education and skills

  • BSc Chemical Engineering
  • Computer literate

Experience

  • Minimum 1-year in a processing environment is required
  • Knowledge of edible oil processing will be advantageous
  • Thorough understanding of methods and processes involved in manufacturing, quality and statistical techniques
