Position Overview:

The main function of the position is to ensure good laboratory practices are followed, all analytical test methods are conducted with accuracy and precision, instrumentation are operated and maintained in the correct manner and laboratory administrative actions are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operation and maintenance of laboratory instrumentation
  • Handling of analysis and evaluation of customer complaint samples
  • Accurate preparation of standard stock and quality control solutions according to set test methods
  • Handling special CoA requests internally as well as from external customers
  • Responsible for the timeously analysis and reporting of results of samples received from the different SOILL sites
  • Verification of test results and product information on Frameworx database
  • Conduct internal and external hygiene swabs as per set schedule and compile summarized reports for each prescribed area
  • Training of laboratory analysts and students as well as to provide support and guidance
  • Perform quality inspections and quality verification checks
  • Participate in out-of-specification and failure investigations
  • Participate in research projects and test studies
  • Participate in internal assessments and audits as required
  • Handling of daily laboratory administrative tasks
  • Ensure self-behavior is aligned with company values and expectations
  • Execute any other reasonable and lawful instructions as deemed necessary or as determined by circumstances
  • Take full responsibility and action of all laboratory functions in the absences of the Laboratory Supervisor

Key Competencies

Education and Skills:

  • BSc Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Food Sciences
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal in Afrikaans and English
  • Advance computer literacy i.e., MS Word; MS Excel
  • Good time management skills are essential



  • 3-5 Years’ of Analytical Laboratory experience
  • 2-3 Years’ experience within a food manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 will be advantageous
