The Swellendam Municipality decided in May 2018 to proceed with the development of a new tourism strategy informed by international trends and open market research and thereafter, establish a new tourism structure that can implement the strategy effectively and inclusively.
A procurement process was followed and we are finally in a position to announce that Destinate (www.destinate.co.za) was selected as the service provider to assist the municipality with this process.
We would therefore cordially like to invite all interested and affected stakeholders and parties who have an interest in or are affected by the tourist and visitor economy to attend an introductory meeting with Destinate. This includes the following but is not limited to:
- Guest Houses
- Bed & Breakfasts
- Self-Catering accommodation
- Nature reserves
- Any Airbnb or Lekkeslaap or any other listed promotions website
- Outdoor active companies, locations and venues
- Conference, functions and other venue hire functions
- Restaurants, Fuel Stations, shopping centres and other support services based businesses
- Event organisers and companies
- Arts, culture, museums and related establishments
- Social and community tourism initiatives
Any party who believes they have an interest in or wishes to participate in the meeting is welcome to attend. The ultimate purpose of the meeting is to launch the new process to reconstitute Swellendam (as in the Municipal Area) Tourism.
This is a new beginning and we respectfully invite all those interested and vested to come forward and participate constructively in the journey.
