Wildebraam’s New Tasting Table
Introducing a flavourful new experience from Wildebraam Berry Estate
In Swellendam’s Hermitage Valley, where berry fields meet mountain views, Wildebraam Berry Estate has long been a place of flavour, welcome, and local pride. Founded by Natalie and Martyn Turck in 1996, the farm has become a familiar name to locals—whether through berry picking, liqueur tastings, or simply the warm hospitality that defines every visit.
This October, Wildebraam is adding something new to its offering: a curated tasting table that pairs their signature preserves and liqueurs with boutique cheeses, crackers, and light accompaniments. Launching on October 15, it’s a fresh way to experience the valley’s bounty—and a delicious excuse to pop in again.
A New Way to Taste the Valley
The tasting table is designed to showcase Wildebraam’s handcrafted liqueurs—ten in total—alongside local flavours that complement and elevate each sip. It’s ideal for introducing guests to the region, but just as lovely for longtime Swellendammers looking to rediscover what’s grown and made right here.
Berry Roots, Local Legacy
While the Hermitage Valley was once a hub for youngberry farming, only a handful of producers remain today. Wildebraam continues to grow youngberries and blackberries on a small but vibrant patch, keeping the tradition alive with care and creativity. From mid-November to the end of December, the orchards open for berry picking—a seasonal favourite for families, foodies, and anyone who enjoys a hands-on taste of summer.
From Field to Bottle
Beyond the tasting room, Wildebraam’s berries are transformed into jams, chutneys, and liqueurs, and also head to the frozen market thanks to a blast freezer that processes up to 700kg a day. It’s a quiet operation with a wide reach—one that keeps Swellendam’s name associated with quality and innovation.
For those who know Natalie, Wildebraam is more than a farm—it’s a reflection of her warmth, creativity, and deep connection to the valley. She and Martyn have built something enduring, and this new tasting table is just the latest way they’re inviting the community to share in it.
Whether you’re passing by, planning a festive outing, or simply craving a taste of home, Wildebraam is ready to welcome you. The valley’s berried treasure just got a little richer.
