Situated on the Breede River, just outside of Swellendam, The Gaia Sanctuary offers an off-grid glamping experience with breathtaking 360-degree views of the Langeberg mountain range. It is an ideal option for a memorable family holiday or a romantic getaway with your loved one.

This accommodation offers guests a choice of either an A-frame Cabin, a Comfort Bell Tent which can accommodate 2 guests, or 6 campsites which each have a capacity of 5 guests. The cabin can comfortably accommodate 2 adults and 2 children at a time and features an open-plan design. There is a queen-size bed on the mezzanine level and 2 child-only single beds on the ground floor. Adjacent to the cabin, there is a private compost toilet for guests’ use.

OFF GRID CAMPING

We have 6 off grid campsites, all alongside the river embankment. You will need to bring all your own camping gear & equipment, power banks and lights, as we have no power or plug points in the campsite.

The firepit, braai area and campsite ablutions are close by, with a cold shower (hot in summer), compost toilet and washing up station.

BELL TENTS

The bell tents are fully furnished and equipped with linen, bath towels, kitchen equipment, pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, kettle, braai utensils, and a gas heater and extra blanket during winter months. Eco washing liquid, a sponge and dish cloth, and eco shower gel are also provided.

Fresh mountain spring water and Coffee & tea are provided.

4 SLEEPER AFRAME CABIN

This self catering, fully kitted A-Frame is a 4 sleeper, with a 1 x queen bed on the mezzanine level, and 2 x single sleeper couches on the ground floor, with a lovely deck with amazing views of the river.

The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, kettle, braai utensils, weber braai, bath towels, and a gas heater during winter. Eco washing liquid, a sponge and dish cloth, and eco shower gel are also provided.

It has its own private compost toilet next to the cabin.

The side roof of the A-frame open up onto the decking, for an awesome indoor/ outdoor nature immersion experience.

Fresh mountain spring water and Coffee & tea are provided.

GLAMPSITE FACILITIES

We do not have a fridge at the glampsite, but we do have a large eco coolerbox that you can store your cooler box in, the eco coolerbox keeps your cooler box cooler when surrounded by ice or ice bricks.

The glamping deck has a kitchen facility, a 3 plate gas cooker, large table, benches & bar stools, and a braai area. We also have a fire pit and larger braai area.

There is a jungle gym next to the fire pit. There are some hammocks and swings dotted across the glampsite.

And we have a rope swing, canoe, paddle skis and tubes along the river embankment.

ABLUTIONS

The ablutions have a hot shower and flushing toilet, and there is another cold shower and compost toilet next to the fire pit, near the campsite.
